Evernote Giveaway: Griffin Clarifi iPhone 3G Cases

March 05, 2009 | Posted by Ron Toledo in Product updates

clarifi

We’re very excited to try something new here at Evernote: Giveaways! Every Friday in March we will give away Griffin Clarifi iPhone 3G cases to ten (10) randomly chosen lucky entrants.

What’s a Clarifi?

The Griffin Clarifi is a case for the iPhone 3G with a built in lens, which takes incredibly crisp snapshots that are perfect for Evernote. Check out our blog post to get more info.

How to enter

Entering takes one step:

  • Send a Twitter message containing: #EvernoteClarifiGiveaway

That’s it. You can include other text in your tweet, but you must have the full hashtag as written above. You only need to tweet once to be entered in all the March giveaways. Don’t forget to follow @evernote and @griffintech.

How will I know if I won?

We will announce weekly winners on Friday March 6th (week 1 winners), March 13th (week 2 winners), March 20th (week 3 winners), and March 27th at 12pm PST on our Facebook fan page, so make sure you’re a fan. While you’re there, check out the Griffin fan page too. The submission period for the Evernote March Giveaway ends at 10am PST on Friday March 27th, 2009.

Winners will be contacted via direct message on Twitter.

Good luck. We’ll see you on Friday.

CONFUSED. Putting that string of text (#EvernoteClarifiGiveaway) in my tweet will somehow magically inform you that I have done so?

Okay, I did it. (I’m beagley on twitter).

But maybe I still don’t understand the wild world of twitter…

Can someone fill me in? It just looks like any other text in my tweet.

@douglas It is a bit magical. By placing a # before a string of text in a public Twitter message, you create a “hashtag.” Hashtags are publicly searchable.

And since we’re at it, does anyone know of such a case for an HTC Fuze or a Sony Experia X1?

    Thank you :)

    STILL CONFUSED…
It seems like I can search for any word on the Twitter site… how are hash (#) tags special?

Thank you for the education. ;-)

I went and searched for EvernoteClarifiGiveaway and found myself, so I guess it worked. But then I searched for “Washington” and that also worked. And then I went to advanced search and put EvernoteClarifiGiveaway into the “Hash Tag” field and it found nothing.

So I’m totally mystified. (Nerds sometimes need to understand things fully… *snorts at self*)

This is cool – but it limits your winner’s pool to only those with iPhones. May I humbly request a platform-free prize for the next giveaway? :-)

@Douglas, It’s basically just a way to identify every message that’s intended as a contest entry. This way all they have to do is search for posts that have the hash tag in them, and find all the entries.

Take for example these searches: #sxsw (http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23sxsw) and #haiku (http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23haiku). By tagging your tweets with those hash tags, you can make sure that your tweets are found whenever people search those tags. #sxsw is all about the SXSW festival, and #haiku brings up Twitter’s active haiku-writing community ;)
