I’m the one who asked the poorly worded android question. Please allow me to rephrase.

Please give an update on the status of a native Evernote application for the android platform?

I assure you that I am neither malfunctioning nor becoming self aware. I may, on the other hand, be a replicant. I’m not sure I would know if I was.

Nothing particularly earth shattering except to say that over the past ten or so years I have downloaded quite a few “helpful” programs for one reason or another. However, this “Evernote” program that you have developed is perhaps the most useful that I have ever come across. As a pastor I am forever trying to stockpile good articles that I come across on the net, Evernote makes the whole process so easy. I’ve recommended you often. Thanks again.

Can anyone tell me how to capture email attachments in evernote? I can send an outlook email to evernote but the attachments do not carry over.

@Freeze. if you want notes available offline on your phone, check out http://www.evernote.com/about/support/imap.php to setup your notes on IMAP. It will keep your notes like email.

@plibin using evernote to snap pics of people at meetings is great. now we need face recognition for those awkward moments at parties or seminars. Jsut take a pic and Evernote will match the image to a note so that you can get a name.

I like Evernote. I think it’s the best freeform database out there – and I’ve been an unstructured database fan since… well I was using Info Select 1.0 in the mid ’90s – which was great until they started bolting on unnecessary and complicating functionality.

But that’s not what I’m writing about. I enjoy your podcasts but am going to allow myself one peevish comment, in the interest of minimizing any fodder for negative impressions. Thee word “unique,” which I hear regularly on the podcasts, does not take the modifier “really” or “very” as “unique” means “one-of-a-kind” and something either is one-of-a-kind or it isn’t. It can’t be sort-of one-of-a-kind or really one-of-a-kind.

I really wish you would quit all the trying to be funny on the podcast and get to the information we’re looking for. NO ONE has time to listen to that crap. This was my 1st time listening and it took 5 minutes to get to any kind of information at all. There are too many podcasts that are humorous if someone wants that. Your throwing your branding of Evernote out the window by doing this. The diversity of the Evernote user is to big to come on like little qurky nerds. Those days are gone. Come on into the 2000’s and quit farting around trying to be cute. You’ll get the listener’s respect by giving us what we’ve come here for. You’re running a business. Treat us like it please. I’ll listen again in a couple of months. For God’s sake quit it and give us information. Please.

I am the “tatoo” guy. I hope you won’t be too disappointed if I don’t really get this tatoo… at least not on the forehead, the place already being taken by a nice Apple logo

More seriously, as a journalist, with work submited to lenght constraints, I can tell you that a word/character count is something that ‘ld make Evernote even more essential in my workflow.

I don’t know how hard it is to implement, but I hope you’ll consider the idea. That reason alone could make me go Premium, if I hadn’t already done so

Thanks for the comments. Some quick responses ahead of the next podcast:

CanyonR, ST, ewonk: We’re not trying to be difficult about answering questions about our Android plans, it’s just that there’s not much new info since we last talked about it and CanyonR’s tweet was really funny (thanks for that, BTW)! We are working on an Android client but unfortunately do not have a release date yet. We’ll talk a lot more about our platform selection decision and development process on the next podcast.

Linda, Jim: Thanks!

Freeze: Local storage of notes on mobile versions of Evernote are always a big topic of discussion. As you can probably guess, it’s the sort of thing that sounds like a good idea but can get pretty hairy to do well. We are planning on developing this feature for several platforms, but haven’t finalized dates yet.

Andy: Dave gets really angry at me when I talk about putting in face recognition, but I’m starting to wear him down. I think face recognition will make it into Evernote sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Andrew: Constructive language criticism! Virtually unheard of on the interwebs. Double thanks.

Larry: I never tried sending in attachments via the mail interface – it should work but we’ll verify that. You can also just drag the attachments into the Evernote icon in either Windows or Mac. Remember, that you have to be a premium user to put anything other than images, audio or pdfs into Evernote.

Scott: Sorry you don’t like the podcasts. We don’t intend for them to be the primary efficient means for our customers to get serious information about the company; there’s also our website, blog, facebook page, tips blog, twitter feed and email newsletters. To be honest with you, the podcast is mostly a way for us to relax a little bit for a half hour a week and if anyone finds the result worth listening to, that’s just a big bonus.

David: Right after making fun of your question, I realized that *I’d* really like to have character and word counts in Evernote as well. It’s going up on the board at the next Shark Week – our quarterly feature planning marathon. No promises, but thanks for the suggestion!

I should clarify that comment to Scott: Dave and I get to relax for a half hour a week while making the podcast. Andrew gets to worry about all the audio levels and profanity for a few hours after that.

Just want to throw out that I find the podcast BOTH informative AND humorous! If I need to find out information NOW, I don’t start downloading podcasts and listening to them – for anything – I go to Google/Wikipedia/company’s website/etc. and read. Podcasts are a very inefficient means of information consumption, however, they also can be a very enjoyable one (at least for me).

Personally I thought this was a great podcast! The audio level changes were a big help, I enjoyed the banter, and I really appreciated the explanation of character recognition and why there isn’t a transcript. Thanks.

I too am having trouble getting attachments to transfer over when clipping an Outlook email item. And I can’t drag the attachment from the Outlook email to Evernote either (I can only do that when grabbing the file from the Windows file system).
