Evernote raises $10 million investment

November 16, 2009 | Posted by Phil Libin in Our Notes

I’m very happy to report that Evernote just raised $10 million in our “B” round! The lead investor is Morgenthaler Ventures, one of the deans of Silicon Valley venture capital. Troika Dialog and DOCOMO Capital, our “A” round investors, participated as well.

What will we do with the money? We’re going to invest it into making our product better: more platforms, more features, and more polish (we’re working on Polish, too, along with Swedish, Japanese and a dozen other languages). We want Evernote to be your trusted, permanent and ubiquitous electronic memory. This investment gives us the runway to get there.

I’d like to thank our team, who’ve worked amazingly hard to build one of the brightest companies on the Internet today; our investors, for giving us their trust; and, most of all, our awesome community of users. Your voice has helped guide our product, and your enthusiasm for Evernote was a critical factor in our successful fundraising.

Thanks for finding us and thanks for sticking with us. We’re glad you’re along for the ride!

I wish that you were available in Farsi (Persian) – new media tools are one of the only ways that young people in Iran can keep connected and build a resistance movement against the regime. A tool like Evernote would help a great deal in storing files, links, blogs etc. Particularly since the current government makes a habit of shutting down progressive blogs and online newspapers.

I wish you were available in Farsi (Persian). New media tools are one of the only ways available for people in Iran, particularly young people, to get their voice out and build a movement for social change. The challenge is that government censors actively shut down progressive blogs and online publications, a tool like Evernote would go a long way to help keep information stored in order to re-start a new blog if you get shut-down.

Congrats! I’m a relatively new user of Evernote and it has been growing on me since day 1. I dropped MS OneNote in favor of Evernote because it is a superior product and platform! :)

I second the Linux version comment! I love evernote but not having a Linux client (Web just isn’t the same) is a drawback.

Very exciting news. I hope some of that cash is budgeted toward the Blackberry app team. The app needs some TLC!

I couldn’t agree more with all the previous comments and with the blogpost, of course.

Evernote is a great application, so easy to use yet that powerful. But you know, you become the best improving yourself every single day… so I’ll be glad to see new cool features ;)

    Keep it Evernote!

So you raise 10 million and still ask your users to translate Evernote for you, free of charge, without even offering the translators something back? Like a free premium upgrade for those who translate for you…? Shame on you, Evernote.

Really agree with what you are saying here. I am uncertain if I would do it though :)
