First impressions: Evernote on iPhone 4

June 23, 2010 | Posted by Andrew Sinkov in Product updates

Our trip to Japan has been fantastic for many reasons, not least of which is the fact that the new iPhone was released here hours before it comes out in the US. A few days ago, we wrote about the ways that Evernote supports iOS4, but, because we hadn’t used the new phone, we didn’t know just how gorgeous Evernote looks on the new Retina Display.

Here are our first impressions of Evernote on the new iPhone 4.

I’m only six months into my 3GS contract, so won’t be getting the new iPhone 4.
So what are we 3GS users now… chopped liver? Please don’t forget about us, especially Premium members who pay for EN like I do! And please don’t rub the beauty of the iPhone 4 in our noses either! Thanks!! ;)

Actually, you’re getting all the goodies as soon as you upgrade to iOS4. You won’t get the Retina Display-related stuff. That, you’ll need the new phone for.

Guys, it’s no use putting up a video for those of us who want to know your impressions while we’re at work. We can’t listen!

The lack of rich text editing on the iPad and iPhone made me drop Evernote. Nothing compares out there, but I prefer syncing word Docs with iDisk and DoctoGo, at least I have full formatting.

I’m concerned about security, so would like to see support for encrypted notes in the Evernote iPhone App. Yes, you can encrypt portions of notes on the desktop client, but these are not then accessible on the iPhone.
