Announcing the First Evernote Knit-Along!

Evernote Knit-Along

By now, some of you may already be familiar with our virtual community challenges. We’ve done the Paperless Challenge, and several Fitness Challenges and Cook-Alongs, all led by our fabulous Ambassadors. The purpose of these activities is to have fun together and to find new ways to get more out of Evernote. Today, we’re kicking off our first-ever Knit-Along, organized by Craft Ambassador Jenni Lathrop and Nikki McGonigal from Nikki, In Stitches. Here’s how it’s going to work.

Join the first Evernote Knit-Along

The Knit-Along kicks off on Monday, October 1st, so you’ve got a week to prepare! In the meantime, be sure to download Jenni’s knitting tips document here. Save it to your Evernote account for reference.

Download Jenni’s Guide: 9 Tips for Knitting with Evernote
  1. Join the Knit-Along by RSVP’ing to the Facebook event page.
  2. Choose one of the three projects (each project includes 2 patterns; one for knitting and one for crocheting) described below.
  3. Use the Evernote Web Clipper to save the pattern(s) you’ll be using from the websites below. Note that all of the patterns we’ll be using have been kindly shared with us by pattern designers. Please do not distribute the patterns you clip to your Evernote account.
  4. Get more out of Evernote. Refer to Jenni’s tips document for ideas around how to organize your knitting projects, needles, and more.
  5. As you work on your objects, post pictures to Twitter using the hashtag #evernotelife, as well as to the Facebook event page, with links to your blog posts and photos on Flickr. Share tips, ask questions, and interact with fellow knitters and crocheters! Don’t forget to follow @evernotelife on Twitter to stay abreast of lifestyle-related Evernote news.
  6. Let your friends know you’re participating by tweeting: “I’m participating in the @evernote Knit-Along! http://note.io/PRzFOM #evernotelife”

Timing, Twitter Party, Prizes

You have 4 weeks from the start of the Challenge to complete one or more of the projects described above. At the end of the Challenge, Jenni will host a Twitter Party so you’ll be able to share what worked/ what didn’t, how Evernote helped you stay on track, and what other ways you can see yourself using Evernote for crafting projects. We’ll be announcing the Twitter Party on the Facebook event page.

Over the course of the event, we’ll select 5 random winners, who will all receive a goody bag of Evernote treats including a t-shirt, tote bag, stickers, and more.

Let’s get to it! Hop over and join the event.

Great guidance. Thanks for sharing how you organize your Evernote knitting notebook! Knit on.

  • Gigi Lee

May we either embellish the crocheted patterns or enter one original pattern. Thanks, Gigi

  • Denise

How do you participate if you don’t use Facebook?

    • Amanda

I would say just post in the comments here or use Twitter. You don’t have to talk on Facebook necessarily to participate.

I thought I would make the fingerless gloves, but I changed my mind. I’m making the cowel. I chose some dark grey yarn, kind of fuzzy and soft, bulky weight. I don’t have 16 inch circular needles in a size 10, so I’m using 29 inch and it seems to be working OK.

Any advice on blocking? I haven’t really blocked anything. I’ve knit socks, mittens, scarves . . . but haven’t blocked anything yet.

Thanks for the tips on organizing knitting supplies on Evernote. I put my inventory in my Knitting folder.

I also downloaded a Kindle book on using Evernote so I can get more proficient.

Would have liked to gotten the email before today; I’ve already got two lace knitting projects going at the moment. Is it okay to download the fingerless mitts for my next project?

The tips page has great information, I’ll definitely use it to get my projects, stash, and needles organized. Thanks!
