For the millions and millions of people around the world that use Evernote everyday to achieve their goals, we’re excited to announce a new part of Evernote that will keep you on track every step of the way. Reminders are here. Our three most requested features rolled into one small package:

In-app and email Alarms

Quick note based to-do lists

Pinning notes to the top of your note list

The Reminders feature is currently available on Evernote for Mac, iOS and Evernote Web.

How Reminders Work

Reminders are incredibly easy to use. You can add a Reminder to a note by simply tapping on the alarm clock icon located at the top of the note on Mac and Web, and at the bottom of the note on iPhone and iPad. If you like, set a date and time for when this note must be completed.

You’ll get an in-app alarm and, optionally, an email the day that a Reminder is due. Once set, you’ll see the note title appear in the new Reminder section at the top of the note list. You can change the order of Reminders simply by dragging them around. When you complete your task, tap on the check or, on iOS, swipe to remove the Reminder from the list.

Like most things in Evernote, Reminders sync across all versions of the app that support the new feature.

Reminders and Notebooks

To keep your Reminders nicely organized, we’ve made them notebook-based. Whenever you add a Reminder to a note, it will appear in the Reminder section within that notebook. This is a perfect way to keep various projects separated. Of course, if you want to see them all in one place, simply go to the All Notes view.

Shared Reminders
By associating Reminders with notebooks, we’re able to do some really cool stuff. First, since Reminders show up at the top of a given notebook, they can be used as a handy way to highlight the most important notes in that notebook—it’s like creating a quick table of contents for your visitors. In addition, anyone who has access to your notebook is able to subscribe to be notified when notes come due. This way the entire team will stay informed about group projects and tasks.

Great for Business
All of these features are also available to our Evernote Business users, so that you’re not just sharing your team’s knowledge, but also moving your projects forward.

4 Ways to Use Reminders Right Now

We’ve been testing Reminders for a few weeks now. Here are some of the great things to try.

Birthday gifts
Evernote has always been a great way to clip gift ideas. Create a notebook called Gift ideas, and add notes containing gifts for your friends and family. Add a Reminder to each note set to a week before the person’s birthday. Now you’ll know what to get and when to get it.

Project planning
At Evernote, we use Reminders to plan all of our video projects. We’ve set up a shared notebook with the team called Video Projects. In it, we have a running list of all ongoing projects and their completion dates. If something needs to be reprioritized, we drag it to the top of the list. Once a project is completed, it’s marked as done and we’re on to the next one.

Packing right
You’ll never forget your toothbrush again. Create your packing list note and set a Reminder to go off a few hours before the trip. Because Reminders are associated with notes, you’ll not only be notified to check your packing list, but you’ll also see the entire thing. If you have everything you need, mark the note as done.

Doctors orders
Before heading off to the doctor’s office for a checkup, create a note with questions that you want to be sure to cover. Set a Reminder for the time of the appointment and you won’t miss a thing. Repeat this the next time you have an appointment so that you have a running history of past questions and answers.

Only The Beginning

It’s not often that we get to unveil such a highly-requested, powerful feature, which is why we’re so excited to hear your reaction. We’re far from finished. We have big plans to expand the functionality, and to bring it to more platforms in the very (very) near future. Go on, create some reminders and let us know what you think.

One of the great thrills of being a Silicon Valley startup is getting to build on new platforms and devices that stand to redefine the technology landscape. Google Glass is one of these rare opportunities. Today, we’re excited to unveil a first look at the Evernote experience on Glass.

Our current implementation focuses on two actions. First, you’ll be able to quickly capture a photo or short video and send it to your Evernote account from the Google Glass sharing menu. Second, you can choose a note from Evernote Web and send it directly into the Glass Timeline so that you have it available right in your field of view when you need it.

The Future

We believe that wearables are the next frontier in consumer technology and we’re hard at work building the Evernote for our wearable technology future. Today, you’re getting a glimpse of simple and useful ways that Evernote can be used with Google Glass. This is only the beginning.

There’s something incredibly personal about handwritten text. Whether you have perfect penmanship or sloppy chicken scratch, your handwriting is unmistakably your own and Penultimate is the ideal way to showcase it. Today, our iPad handwriting app gets a bunch of new capabilities and some exciting Premium features. Let’s take a look.

Get Penultimate for iPad »

Smarter Notebook Titles

With this update, Penultimate gets smarter. We’ve added notebook title suggestions based on your location and calendar events. In most cases, these titles will be exactly what you need in order to find the notes later. To change a title, simply tap on it and start typing. We’ve also made notebook covers more helpful. They now display the name of the location where you last made edits, which gives you useful context about the notebook at a glance.

The first time you create a new notebook in Penultimate, you’ll be asked to give the app access to your iPad’s calendar and location information. It’s important to note that this information is only used to title the notebooks.

Sync When You Need It

Penultimate users asked for more control over Evernote sync and now they have it. Go to the app’s account section, then tap on your user name to view Sync option. One of the options you’ll see is Pause Syncing. When you pause, the app will stop syncing with Evernote until you un-pause. This is a great option if you’re traveling or want to conserve your mobile data usage.

For additional control, this update includes the option to sync your notes only when your iPad is on a wifi network.

New Premium features!

An Evernote Premium subscription unlocks great features across the entire collection of Evernote apps. With this update, Penultimate gets in on the action. We’ve added two Penultimate-specific Premium features:

Unlimited Access to the Paper Shop
Penultimate comes with three paper styles: lined, graph and plain. If you want more, they’re in the Paper Shop. For Free users, these styles are available for individual purchase ranging from $.99 to $2.99, but if you’re a Premium subscriber, you’ll get unlimited access to all seven collections. To find the Paper Shop, open a notebook and tap on the graph paper icon at the top of the page, then select the Paper Shop.

Passcode Lock
If you share your iPad with others, you can now lock the Penultimate app with a passcode. Once you upgrade to Premium, you’ll see this option show up in the account section of the app. The passcode will be required every time you open the app.

More Premium features
In addition to these two features, Premium users can create more and larger notebooks, have access to faster support, and get quicker processing of their handwritten notes for search. Go Premium today »

And more

We’ve also made the app more stable and reliable than ever and we added the ability to sign out to switch between users. Try it and let us know what you think.

Eight people walk into a conference room… This is either the setup for a terrible joke or the beginning of an endless business card exchange. If it’s the latter, then we have a great solution: the new Evernote Hello for Android. The latest version (1.4) of Evernote Hello adds new features that are designed to make meeting and remembering individuals or groups quick and effortless.

Get Evernote Hello for Android »

Hello Connect

Evernote Hello for Android now comes with an innovative way to instantly meet a group of people. It’s called Hello Connect and it uses audio tones to identify other nearby Hello users and join everyone together. Have everyone in your group tap the main screen plus button, then choose Use Hello Connect. Once connected, you’ll have everyone’s photos, contact info and any other information that they have in their Hello profiles.

If you’re in a loud environment or would prefer not to use the audio tones, you can always switch to manual mode and tell everyone around you the four digit Hello Connect code. Everyone punches in the code on their phones, and you’re connected.

Hello Connect is available on both Android and iPhone, and will work across devices.

Facebook

Evernote Hello lets you sign into your LinkedIn and (now) Facebook accounts. We recommend that you do this. It’ll make completing your profile faster and also pull in information about the people you meet as soon as you enter their email address.

To connect to Facebook and LinkedIn, tap the Hello icon in the top left corner of the app, then select Social Networks.

Sync with Google Contacts

To make it easier to keep your contacts up-to-date, Evernote Hello now lets you choose to save all the people you meet to your Google Contacts. This will ensure that you’ll be able to easily connect with everyone at any time.

And more

In addition to everything above, this update also adds a redesigned layout for Hello Notes in Evernote and lots of stability improvements. Let us know what you think.

Evernote Hello for iPhone is our favorite way to remember all the people we meet. Today, we’re adding a number of nice enhancements, including a new Premium feature, better business card scanning and improved Address Book integration. Let’s take a look.

Get Evernote Hello 2.1 for iPhone

Business Card Scanning

The business card scanning feature in Evernote Hello is really great. It’s a Premium feature, but we’ve decided to extend our preview for Free users. It makes adding people to Hello as simple as snapping a photo. Plus, if you connect the app to LinkedIn and Facebook, we’ll build rich profiles automatically. Learn more about business scanning with Evernote Hello.

Flash controls
In our tests, we’ve found that enabling the flash is the best option for consistent business card photos. There are cases, especially with glossy cards, where the flash ends up interfering with our ability to recognize the text. That’s why we added the iPhone’s familiar flash controls to the camera. If you’re snapping a glossy card, you can turn the flash off—just try to be under good lighting conditions.

Today, Evernote for Windows Phone (v 3.0) gets a major update with new features and redesigns. From a more user-friendly home screen to improved tag lists to stack support and more, Evernote for Windows Phone is better than ever. Let’s take a look.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone »

Redesigned Home Screen

When you launch Evernote, you often have a purpose in mind: you’re either looking to create a note or find an existing one. That’s why we’re excited about the redesigned Home Screen, which gives you quick access to everything you need, including note creation, search and shortcuts (more on shortcuts later). Plus, you can now get to your account information by tapping on your username at the top of the screen. With this new design, everything just feels faster and more accessible.

Shortcuts

Shortcuts let you jump to any note, notebook or tag that you access frequently. To create a shortcut, simply long tap on any of those items. The shortcut will then appear on the Home Screen. One very cool aspect of shortcuts is that they sync across platforms. Today, shortcuts are available on Mac, Android and Windows Phone. Any shortcuts that you create on one platform will also appear on the others.

Better Tags

In addition to the Home Screen, we also redesigned the Tag List. It’s now significantly more compact, allowing you to see more tags per screen. But that’s not all. For avid taggers, Evernote for Windows Phone now also has a quick way for you to jump to tags by letter. Rather than having to scroll, simply tap on a green letter header to display an alphabetical grid.

Premium Feature: Document Search

We’re excited to bring a new Premium feature to our Windows Phone users: Document Search. Document Search indexes any attached Microsoft Office and iWork files so that documents, spreadsheets and presentations show up in your search results giving you more ways to find exactly what you need.

Notebook Stacks

Notebook Stacks are a way to visually group similar notebooks. In your notebook list, you can now open and close stacks by tapping on them, and view all the notes in a given stack with a long tap on the stack name.

Checkboxes!

Evernote for Windows Phone now supports creating and editing checkboxes. To create a list containing checkboxes, tap on checkbox icon at the bottom of the note editor. In addition to creating checkboxes, you can also check and uncheck existing checkboxes when you’re in a note.

And more

This is a major update to our Windows Phone version. We’ve added lots of features, redesigned various parts of the app and made everything smoother, faster and more responsive. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone »

We’re really excited about today’s Evernote for Android (v5) update. It looks more beautiful than ever, comes with a great Premium feature, adds a whole new camera with support for our Evernote Smart Notebook, plus a whole lot more. Let’s take a closer look.

Get Evernote for Android from Google Play »

New Camera. New Mode.

Photos help you remember moments as they happened, and now you’ll be able to capture lots and lots of moments without ever leaving the camera. The new Multi-shot Camera lets you take multiple photos, then save them all into a note. If a particular photo didn’t turn out the way you like, you can easily delete it before saving.

Page Camera
When you’re making a photo note, you’ll notice a new option on the screen. That’s Page Camera. Page Camera is like having a scanner in your pocket. Turn on this mode and you’ll be able to save physical documents and papers in Evernote. Just align the page with the on-screen rectangle and take the photo. The app will find the edges of the page, remove any shadows and improve the contrast, so you’ll have a perfect copy in Evernote.

Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine

This is where the new Page Camera gets really interesting. Evernote and Moleskine came together to build the most beautiful and functional notebook ever made. The result is the Evernote Smart Notebook, which keeps all of things that make Moleskine a favorite among creative individuals, and adds some unique Evernote-friendly features.

Dots
Instead of lines, each page has dots. When you use the new Page Camera to take a photo of the page, we use the dots to correct skew and further improve the contrast. The resulting image is bright, letting your writing and sketches pop off the page. Plus the whole experience is optimized for our handwriting recognition technology, which makes your notes searchable in Evernote.

Smart Stickers
Every Evernote Smart Notebook comes with a set of colorful Smart Stickers in the back pocket. When you apply a Smart Sticker to a page in your Evernote Smart Notebook, and take a Page Camera photo, we’ll recognize the sticker and assign either a tag or notebook to the note. You can define the Smart Stickers to mean whatever you like in the app Settings.

Buy one now
The Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine is available now in small ($24.95) and large ($29.95) sizes, with your choice of two paper patterns (lined and squared). Each notebook also comes with a code for 3-months of Evernote Premium. Order yours today »

Shortcuts

If you’re an Evernote for Mac user, then you already know and love Shortcuts, which is why we’re really excited to bring them to mobile for the first time. Shortcuts lets you quickly jump to notes, notebooks and tags that you access frequently. To create a Shortcut, open the Shortcut Panel by swiping from the right edge of the screen on the note list, notebook list, tag list, or when in a single note.

That’s not all. Evernote shortcuts sync across platforms. If you already have shortcuts set on Mac, they’ll now appear on your Android device, and vice versa. Pretty great.

New Premium Feature: Document Search

Premium users have had a supercharged search for some time, and that search just got a whole lot more powerful. Starting today, when you search your account, any documents, spreadsheets and presentations with matching words will also appear in your results. This includes files created in Microsoft Office and iWork. Putting those files into Evernote just got a lot more useful. And don’t forget, if you’re Premium, you also have advanced PDF Search, which makes your scanned PDFs searchable.

Keep in mind, when you attach a new document to Evernote, it will need a few minutes to process and sync before the results will start appearing.

New for Evernote Business: Tag Support

Evernote Business users will be happy to hear that we’ve also added support for Business tags in this update. When you tap into the tag view you’ll be able to filter by Business tags, as well as edit tags contained within Business Notebooks.

A Beautiful Look

We take design very seriously at Evernote. Our team is always striving to create the best Evernote experience possible, while supporting the design aesthetics and expectations of the platform. That’s why we love our Android app, and for this update we’ve made it look even better.

We redesigned the note lists to give each note more definition, making them easier to see and tap. We also redrew every icon throughout the app to make them more refined and beautiful. There are tons of other small details, tweaks and improvements that make this the best looking Evernote for Android ever.

And much more

This is a major new version of Evernote. In addition to all the great features above, we made a number of speed and reliability improvements that make everything about the app better. We hope you like the latest. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Search is a centerpiece of the Evernote experience. No matter how you use notebooks and tags, search is often the key to helping you discover the items you’re looking for. Over the years, we’ve continually made search better for all of our users. From making it faster to adding type-ahead suggestions to improving our search for text in images, we want to make sure everyone can find what they need.

Search Better with Evernote Premium

Today, we’re supercharging search for Evernote Premium and Evernote Business users with the addition of Document Search. Now any attached document, presentation and spreadsheet created using Microsoft Office and iWork will show up in your search results across almost every version of Evernote that you use.

Best part: If you’re a Premium or Business user, you don’t need to do anything. The feature is live and your existing documents have all been indexed. It’s important to keep in mind that when you add new documents, you’ll need to give us a few minutes to sync and index them before the results will appear.

This new feature comes in addition to the existing priority image recognition, and Premium PDF Search, which makes any scanned documents attached to notes searchable, for Premium users.

If you attach documents to your notes, scan PDFs and take photos containing text, you may want to consider upgrading to Evernote Premium. It’ll make finding your notes faster and easier than ever.

Our most vibrant memories often revolve around food. They’re the family dinners, the night market adventures, and the romantic getaways that shape who we are. Evernote Food is designed to help you capture and remember those moments forever. Today, we’re bringing you a bunch of great new features that will let you better plan your meals and share them with others. Let’s take a look.

Get Evernote Food 2.1 from the App Store »

Ratings and Reservations

Evernote Food excels at helping you discover restaurants and document the experiences, but it’s been missing one key element of the dining out experience: making a reservation. Now, you can. The new Evernote Food come with OpenTable’s reservation system built right into the app.

When you’re browsing through the Restaurants section, tap on a place you’d like to add to your restaurant wish list. If the restaurant is listed on OpenTable, then you’ll see a Make a Reservation option. From there, you’ll go through the familiar OpenTable booking process.

To make it easy to choose between so many restaurant options, we also included Foursquare ratings. They show up to the right, just under the restaurant’s name on the Place Details screen.

Share your recipes

Besides giving you ideas for places to eat out, Evernote Food can also inspire you to dine in with thousands of the web’s best recipes right at your fingertips. We’ve taken this one step further by allowing you to inspire others. You’re now able to share the recipes that you’ve clipped with friends via Twitter, Facebook, or email.

Bring in all of your Evernote recipes

Like many of our users, I’ve been saving recipes and food inspirations in Evernote for years – well before we launched Evernote Food. As of this update, any recipe I save to Evernote will sync to Evernote Food. This update lets bring in entire notebooks of content from Evernote, or choose notes to import by tag. No matter what the recipes are, they will now show up in the My Cookbook section of Evernote Food.

To do this, tap on the elephant icon in the top left corner of the home screen. Next, tap on the Include Recipes from Account option. From there, you can choose as many notebooks and tags as you’d like. After a sync (the app syncs automatically, but you can also tap ‘Sync Now’ in the Settings menu if you prefer), your new notes will show up in the My Cookbook section alongside all the other food-related notes you’ve saved.

And more…

We’re very excited about this update. In addition to all the goodies described above, we now let you choose photos from any album on your device, we sped up image uploads, and improved search results. Evernote Food lovers in China and Japan will also now be able to search recipes from top regional publishers. We hope you enjoy everything that this update has to offer. Try it out and let us know what you think.
