Today, Evernote for Windows Phone (v 3.0) gets a major update with new features and redesigns. From a more user-friendly home screen to improved tag lists to stack support and more, Evernote for Windows Phone is better than ever. Let’s take a look.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone »

Redesigned Home Screen

When you launch Evernote, you often have a purpose in mind: you’re either looking to create a note or find an existing one. That’s why we’re excited about the redesigned Home Screen, which gives you quick access to everything you need, including note creation, search and shortcuts (more on shortcuts later). Plus, you can now get to your account information by tapping on your username at the top of the screen. With this new design, everything just feels faster and more accessible.

Shortcuts

Shortcuts let you jump to any note, notebook or tag that you access frequently. To create a shortcut, simply long tap on any of those items. The shortcut will then appear on the Home Screen. One very cool aspect of shortcuts is that they sync across platforms. Today, shortcuts are available on Mac, Android and Windows Phone. Any shortcuts that you create on one platform will also appear on the others.

Better Tags

In addition to the Home Screen, we also redesigned the Tag List. It’s now significantly more compact, allowing you to see more tags per screen. But that’s not all. For avid taggers, Evernote for Windows Phone now also has a quick way for you to jump to tags by letter. Rather than having to scroll, simply tap on a green letter header to display an alphabetical grid.

Premium Feature: Document Search

We’re excited to bring a new Premium feature to our Windows Phone users: Document Search. Document Search indexes any attached Microsoft Office and iWork files so that documents, spreadsheets and presentations show up in your search results giving you more ways to find exactly what you need.

Notebook Stacks

Notebook Stacks are a way to visually group similar notebooks. In your notebook list, you can now open and close stacks by tapping on them, and view all the notes in a given stack with a long tap on the stack name.

Checkboxes!

Evernote for Windows Phone now supports creating and editing checkboxes. To create a list containing checkboxes, tap on checkbox icon at the bottom of the note editor. In addition to creating checkboxes, you can also check and uncheck existing checkboxes when you’re in a note.

And more

This is a major update to our Windows Phone version. We’ve added lots of features, redesigned various parts of the app and made everything smoother, faster and more responsive. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone »

Today, Evernote for Windows Phone gets a great update that includes a bunch of powerful new features. We’ve added support for Evernote Business, improved creation and editing of styled text, added PIN Lock for Premium users, and more. Let’s take a look.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone »

Evernote Business Support

Evernote Business lets everyone at a business benefit from the knowledge of their colleagues. Now, Windows Phone users can get in on the action.

Add Notes to Business Notebooks
In Evernote for Windows Phone, you can now create notes in Business Notebooks. Do this by either creating a new note when viewing a Business Notebook or by tapping on the notebook name along the top of a note that you’re editing. You can also move your existing notes into Business Notebooks using this method.

Search Business Notebooks
You can search through your own Business Notebooks and those that others have shared with you from the Search screen by choosing Business Notebooks from the drop down menu.

Premium Feature: PIN Lock

Premium users can now lock Evernote with a PIN. This is great if you share your phone with others and want to be sure your notes are not accessible. Turn on PIN Lock by swiping left on the Setting screen. Once enabled, the app will lock after 10 minutes of inactivity with Evernote.

Joined Notebooks

All Evernote users will now see notebooks that they’ve joined in their notebooks list. Whether someone shared a Personal Notebook with you or a Business Notebook, you’ll be able to easily view them from your Windows Phone.

Styled Text Support

Editing and creating styled text gets a big boost in this update. When creating a new note, you’ll see new styling options beneath the keyboard, including bulleted and numbered lists. You can now also edit bold and italic text right in-line—no more section-by-section editing.

And More

There are tons of other improvements in this update with lots more to come. Let us know what you think.

Today, Evernote for Windows Phone (2.5) gets an update full of redesigns and improvements. There’s a new look for the note list, helpful tips throughout, and a more spacious layout for the Note Editor. Let’s take a look.

Note List Tiles

The Note List now has a tiled look that feels right at home on your Windows Phone. Each tile contains the note title, date and text from the note. In cases where the note contains an image, a preview of the image will take up the lower two-thirds of the tile. The tile also shows an icon indicating an audio or file attachment. This redesign makes it easy to scan your note list and quickly find exactly what you’re looking for.

Helpful Popups

Even our most active users sometimes discover features that they didn’t know existed. To make sure that you get the most out of Evernote, we’ve added helpful popup messages that point out different functions at just the right times.

More Spacious Note Editor

We simplified the Note Editor interface to give you much more room to view and edit the content of your notes.

Lots More

In addition to these useful updates, we also improved the sign-in pages and added significant performance improvements that make the app more responsive than ever. We hope you like this update. Let us know what you think.

Today, we’re excited to release a great update to Evernote for Windows Phone 7. This update (2.2) includes a number of much-requested features, including native notebook sharing and better editing. That’s in addition to improved usability and reliability. Let’s have a look.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone 7 from the Marketplace

Notebook Sharing

Evernote for Windows Phone 7 now lets you share your notebooks with individuals or the world. There are two ways to enter Notebook Sharing mode:

Tap and hold a notebook in the list, then select Share Settings

Tap on notebook, select more in the action bar, then choose Share Settings

Once in the Notebook Sharing mode, you can swipe right to chose the preferred type of sharing. The People panel lets you share with individuals via email. If you’re an Evernote Premium subscriber, then you can allow recipients to add and edit content in your notebooks. The Public panel creates a URL to the notebook, which you can paste into an email or share it via the social apps of your choice.

Contextual Search and Note Creation

When you find yourself inside of a notebook or tag, searches that you perform will remain within that notebook or tag. The same goes for new notes that you create. If you aren’t viewing a specific notebook or tag, then searches will be global and new notes will be placed into the default notebook.

Better Note Editing

Editing your notes is much more intuitive in this update. The editor for notes you create on your phone now displays all the text and lets you edit it directly. Any images or audio attachments are presented in the gallery above the note area.

And more…

In addition, we also made significant stability improvements to the app. The app is faster and more reliable, plus you’ll never see that pesky “we need to check your notes message”. There’s lots more to come. Enjoy and let us know what you think.

Our Windows Phone version keeps getting better. Today, we released version 2.1, which is packed with a number of features and improvements. Let’s take a look at what’s new and also explore some of the things you can do with Evernote on Mango devices.

Get Evernote for Windows Phone 7 from the Marketplace

Pin anything to the home screen

Evernote for Windows Phone 7 now lets you pin the things you need right to your home screen, letting you quickly access features, notes and notebooks. Here’s how it works.

New notes
Go to Evernote Settings > General > Pin to Start Page. Here you can choose to pin specific new note options, such as a new text note, snapshot note and new audio note. Tapping these options from the home screen will launch into the note.

Jump to specific notes, notebooks, tags, and searches
If you have notes and notebooks that your access frequently, you can now pin those to your home screen, too. To pin a notebook or tag, swipe to the relevant screen, then tap the Pin button at the bottom of the screen. On the home screen the tile will include a number showing how many notes are related to the notebook or tag.

To pin a note, open the note and tap the dots in the menu and choose Pin this Note.

Template notes

If you find yourself frequently creating the same type of note, then we have some good news. Rather than putting in identical information every time, Evernote now lets you create a template. Template notes can take a number of different forms. You can create simple text-only templates, or you can make templates that simplify a complex workflow. For example, you can make a template that launches the camera and then attaches the snapshot to a note that contains some pre-filled text—great for capturing business cards and making expense reports.

How to make a template
To create a template, make a new note, then tap on the three dots in the menu. Choose “Pin as Template.” You will then be asked to identify the type of template that you wish to create. The resulting template will be pinned to your home screen.

Improved text editing

This update adds major improvements to the application’s text editing capabilities. Now, the experience of editing a plain text note is the same as creating the note. If your note contains rich content, then the experience hasn’t changed—just tap into the specific regions of the note that you wish to edit.

New language support

This update also adds support for a number of languages, including Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, and Polish.

And more…

We’ve also added a number of additional capabilities:

Background sync: The app will complete a sync when the device is on a WIFI connection, even if the phone is locked.

Search integration: Evernote is integrated with the Windows Phone search. If you swipe across on a search result, you will see notes in Evernote related to that search.

More social: You can now share a note to Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live.

Stay tuned, we have lots more on the way.

Bio

Dan Flowers is the president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. A former guitar teacher, Dan’s passion for food banking was sparked after taking a grant writing class in graduate school. After working as a grant writer for the Food Bank in Flint, Michigan, he eventually came to the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank to become CEO. Dan uses Evernote to help him tackle his inbox, to-dos, keep track of paperwork, and manage his team to make sure that business flows smoothly.

I use Evernote, Everywhere:

I use Evernote for…

I came to Akron to run the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. Our customers are charities that in total serve 180,000 people a year. As CEO and a member of the National Committee of Food Bankers, I get hundreds of emails a day and travel frequently. Evernote is with me every step of the way:

Evernote as a replacement for flagging emails for followup and tasks: I forward emails for followup to my Evernote account and tag them all appropriately. My assistant, who also uses Evernote, also sends important emails and reminders straight to my Evernote account. Evernote is my hub. I just watch the stream and tag things as they come in. [Learn how to send emails to your Evernote account]

For keeping documents in sync: I save documents in Evernote. I travel regularly for work and often have to review documents on the go. I forward all of my emails with document attachments to Evernote and mark them up on my iPad on the plane.

For capturing inspiration in the community: I’m always taking pictures with Evernote on my iPhone. If I’m out in the community and I see something that might help us enhance our brand and promote our message, I snap a photo of it.

For tracking the cycle time of a project: I’ll take a document that an employee is working on, date it, put my initials on it and then snap a photo of it. I’ll wait to see where it ultimately lands in the file and pull up the picture I snapped to see how long it took for the document to get finalized.

For audio notes and reminders: I take notes in all kinds of places, with whatever device I have on hand. Even when I’m driving, I’ll pull up Evernote on my phone and record a voice memo.

For juggling multiple action items, on the go: For me, one of the best features of Evernote is the sync and the way that all of the apps work together so well across my various devices. It’s the most seamless multi-platform interface I’ve seen and makes Evernote an invaluable tool for any multi-tasking CEO or manager.

Evernote as an expression of your work style

I’ve noticed that the more I’ve been using Evernote, the more it’s become a reflection of my management style. I can see how I interact with people, the processes that I implement, and how I see a project come to fruition. That’s a pretty unique thing to be able to see in such a visual way.

Are you a manager or CEO? How are you using Evernote to tackle your day-to-day?

Evernote, everywhere:

At the office, employees primarily use Windows machines, but at home and on the go, they can log into their accounts from any device. When employees are on the road, they can log into their account from any number of computers and mobile devices.

Using Evernote for a Huge Project: Company-Wide Point of Sale

My team is working on building a new point of sale for the company, a massive project with many moving parts, stakeholders, and points of entry.

I needed a tool that would help my team quickly and easily capture the incredible amount of information that we were dealing with, and be able to access it from any device.

Here’s why we chose Evernote, and how it helps us run a smooth operation:

We needed a tool that would be ubiquitous
My development team is distributed and is constantly sharing tons of information. People are on the road, in different locations, using different devices when they’re on the go. With Evernote, we can start a project at the office and pick up our workflow from any device whether we’re on the road, at home, or on a plane. Things are always moving forward.

We needed a tool that would allow us to capture information in any format
Before we started using Evernote as a team, we didn’t have a flexible and easy-to-use place to house information like meeting notes, whiteboard drawings and quick handwritten sketches and memos. There was no one-size-fits all solution. With Evernote, we can capture virtually any idea, concept, or note –even if it’s written on a napkin during a lunch meeting! Everything that comes up over the life cycle of the project is saved into a shared Evernote folder, accessible by anyone in the company. [Learn how to attach files to your notes]

We needed a tool that would make it easy to find information
Evernote has become a central knowledge base for the Aaron’s national call center and our business users, so having the ability to search through a lot of information and quickly find what anyone might be looking for is vital. Evernote’s search feature allows both members of the call center and business users to quickly search for answers to questions as they come up, instead of sifting through buried folders in a rigid system. Not to mention, Evernote helps my team and I organize our own incoming correspondences, attend to different projects throughout the day. With other programs, the information you’re looking for might be there, but it’s buried in a folder structure.

We needed a tool that didn’t have a pre-determined structure
With Evernote, we can easily drop information into shared notebooks, without having to spend time figuring out a folder structure. For Aaron’s employees, Evernote is about getting information down and being able to share it across development teams, without having to immediately organize it.

We needed a tool that would allow us to share information
My team is constantly sharing information. In Evernote, updates can be made quickly, so we always have access to the latest information. In the past, we’ve struggled to seamlessly share information with many different team members across the organization—particularly our national call center. [Learn how to start sharing]

Getting Everyone on Board

When we chose to use Evernote as a team, I created a Sponsored Group, giving every member of my team a Premium account. I didn’t have to worry about convincing people to convert to using new devices because it was ‘Mac-only.’ Evernote is available for virtually any device, so anyone on my team could use it. I pay for everyone’s account (discounted for groups) on one single bill. When new members join the team, I simply add them to the group, and they’re immediately able to access all team discussions, brainstorms, documents, snapshots and sketches. [Learn more about Sponsored Groups and how to get started.]

Making business decisions with the help of Evernote

Having a place to store all kinds of information—from snapshots of whiteboard discussions to files and voice memos—gives team members an easy way to save and share information that would otherwise have to be saved to different programs, files and computers. The ability to have any type of content saved in one place gives my team a holistic view of major projects and collaborations, and often helps build clarity around specific implementations.

We’ll often come up with solutions and make decisions by pulling up any number of notes associated with a specific date or aspect of a project.
