Quick Tip: Migrating Notes from Personal Notebooks to Business Notebooks

One of the first things current Evernote users will want to do when they join their company’s Evernote Business account is migrate existing work-related notes from their Personal Notebooks to new Business Notebooks.

This ensures that users will be able to enjoy all of the knowledge sharing features of Evernote Business, including the ability to publish those notes in Business Notebooks to the Business Library, where they can be browsed and synced by co-workers. Migrating notes to Business Notebooks also allows them to appear in Related Notes and Related Results, making it easy for users across an organization to effortlessly discover what their co-workers know.

Migrating multiple notes simultaneous is easy with Evernote for Mac and Evernote for Windows Desktop, just follow the steps below.

Evernote for Mac

To move multiple notes into a Business Notebook using Evernote for Mac, do the following:

  1. Hold the Command key, then click the notes you want to move to select them. To select all of the notes currently displayed in the Note List, you may also click any note, then hit Command-A.
  2. Control-click on any of the selected notes. An options menu will be displayed.
  3. Select ‘Move to Notebook’. A dialog with a list of all the Business Notebooks and Personal Notebooks in your Evernote account will be displayed. You may also select ‘Copy to Notebook’ if you want to retain a copy of the notes in their original notebook.
  4. Click the Business Notebook you want to move the selected notes to. The change will be synced to your Evernote account immediately.

Evernote for Windows Desktop

To move multiple notes into a Business Notebook using Evernote for Windows Desktop, do the following:

  1. Hold the Ctrl key, then click the notes you want to move to select them. To select all of the notes currently displayed in the Note List, you may also click any note, then hit Ctrl-A.
  2. Right-click on any of the selected notes. An options menu will be displayed.

  4. Select Move to Notebook > Notebook… A dialog with a list of all the Business Notebooks and Personal Notebooks in your Evernote account will be displayed.You may also select Copy to Notebook > Notebook… if you want to retain a copy of the notes in their original notebook.

  6. Click the Business Notebook you want to move the selected notes to.
  7. Click ‘Move’. The change will be synced to your Evernote account immediately.
