Hi Mike,

When I was looking at the end of last year it was still quite new, and (as I recall) at that time the dev site didn’t have much activity, so I passed on it. I really liked it when I used it on previous developments, but I wasn’t sure that it was mature enough on WP7 at that point – maybe mistakenly.

Great post! I can empathize with a lot of this. What I’m surprised about is that you rolled your own storage solution. I also spent a good week evaluating various options, and sqlite turned out to be both performant and capable. The API is, granted, a little on the stone-age side, but I found it preferable to rolling my own. Did you also take a look at it, and if so, what made you decide against it?

I do use exactly the same version. I still need to submit the changes back to the Thrift folk – I’m currently focused on the next release of the WP7 client – big focus on load time performance, but submitting back the changes is high on my list.

Great post! Love Evernote’s technical stories. However, I have a question about Thrift. I know you’ve submitted a patch that helps to generate proper clients for Silverlight. Do you use exactly the same version (that attached to your blog post) for Evernote WP7 app? Have you contacted with Thrift development, are they going to integrated your changes into official version? Thanks!

Excellent post. I love the platform. It’s far better than android. Especially the emulator is really worth mentioning. Excellent performance and it comes with Hardware acceleration.

Wow, thanks for all this information. It’s fascinating to see a little behind the scenes and gives me a bit more appreciation for what you’ve been up against to put Evernote on my phone.

I think the most exciting thing about this post, though, is seeing your enthusiasm — it bodes well for the future of the app!
