Today, we bring you a new version of Evernote for Windows Desktop (4.6.1) that includes two great updates. First, we’ve made migrating notes from Personal to Business notebooks a breeze for Evernote Business users. Second, our Internet Explorer 9 users get an all-new Evernote Web Clipper. Plus, there are tons of other great improvements. Let’s take a look.

Evernote Business Improvements: Copy and Move Your Notes

Evernote Business is designed to help you benefit from all of the accumulated knowledge of your team and to share your own knowledge with others. In this update, we’ve made it easy for you to copy or move any business-related notes from your Personal Notebooks into relevant Business Notebooks. To do this, simply select an individual note or multiple notes from your note list, then right-click and choose the destination Business Notebook from the Move Note or Copy Note options. Once moved, any tags that are associated with the notes will be preserved in the Business Notebook.

New Evernote Web Clipper for Internet Explorer 9

The Internet Explorer Evernote Web Clipper is installed when you install Evernote for Windows. As part of this update, we’ve bundled a completely new version of the Evernote Web Clipper for those using Internet Explorer 9 and later.

The new Evernote Web Clipper lets you save web pages and organize them faster than ever. Whenever you see something you like, click on the Evernote Web Clipper icon in your Command Bar. A popup will appear that lets you rename the note, add a tag and choose the destination notebook—Personal or Business. The Evernote Web Clipper automatically detects the body of the page but you can always choose to clip the entire page from the menu in the popup. Remembering all the great things you see online has never been easier.

Any place that lists the other improvements to tagging, sharing, and search you mentioned?

    • AndrewSinkov

Those are primary reliability improvements and bug fixes rather than new features.

it would be nice to see a list of these improvements :)

Thanks Andrew! Huge kudos to Mark Ayzenshtat and the dev teams for the new Public API method: related notebooks, notes, and tags. I’d love to see that replicated to the COM API.

Please add support for Markdown WYSIWYG, like Gist has. https://gist.github.com/

Need to support Mac with Outlook.

Any news on Outlook 2013 integration?

DANGER! There is a bug that doesn’t allow you to Sync in the Windows Desktop App after moving notes from your Personal Notebook to the Business Notebook. This was confirmed with support, yet they are not warning anyone and there is no fix!!

I use AOL as my browser. How do I get to use the evernote icon in my command bar for internet explorer.

The change has been disappointing for me. Previously, I could copy off an entire web page into Evernote by right clicking and selecting “Add to Evernote” and now all I get is the URL.

How do I get the whole page without highlighting it and copying it?

To enable the Evernote Web Clipper int he Command Bar, click the Internet Explorer Options menu, then select ‘Manage Add-ons’. Under ‘Toolbars and Extensions’ you will see an extension called ‘Evernote Extension’. Select this and then click the ‘Enable’ button. The Evernote Web Clipper will appear in your Command Bar the next time you start Internet Explorer.

Hey i really like Evernote…so keep up the GREAT job.

However for Windows Evernote Updates…why don’t you guys use “incremental” updates…The update client downloads the ENTIRE 50+ MB just to give a less than 1MB small upgrade. Please consider Incremental updates…so much more efficient!
