When we launched Evernote into public beta in June of 2008, we had two crazy goals: create an external brain that makes everyone smarter, and build a hundred year startup. Hard to believe that it’s been five years since that day! This is just the beginning.

Whether you’ve been using Evernote for years or heard about us for the first time today, you’re here at the start of the journey. Thanks for helping build Evernote.

Share your favorite Evernote story from our Five Year page and make sure to include #evernote5.

Happy Anniversary!!! I started using Evernote in July of 2008 and haven’t stopped since! Definitely a huge part of my workflow and just “remembering everything” I also use the Moleskin notebook. Really enjoy EVERYTHING about Evernote! Keep up the good work!

Congrats! I just checked the date on my first evernote upload and it’s 29 May 2008! ;^)

I’ve loved every year of Evernote, but I’m sad because the shirt I got when I first signed up as a paid user, has now begun to crack after so many years of treating it well (even hand washing it before I got really sick).

    Thanks Guys! Happy B. Day!

    Congratulations, you deserve it! :)

    Congratulations!

But do not forget, Evernote had been around before. It was already my favorite when it was blue.

The spreading video is great, and it shows the lack of Right-to-left support consequence.

I discovered Evernote because I despised Google Docs. I begrudgingly gave the green elephant a shot and – well, you know how that goes – I honestly have no idea, now, how I got along without it. As a newspaper reporter and author, I think I use Evernote more than I do my buillt-in memory.

Congrats! Evernote premium is so valuable to me, it doesn’t only help me to organise life and life savers, it also helps me in my job as an illustrator of children’s books. It’s great to have a helicopter view on all sketches and character drawings I make in the progress of creating a new book, thanks!

Happy birthday. But really, where are reminders for Windows?

I started using Evernote on May 6, 2008 – we’ve had our ups and downs over the years – I’m just going to forget that version 3.5 for Windows ever happened (4.x made that right again), but the service has become more useful to me over time. Looking forward to seeing what comes next – give us Evernote 5 for Windows please!

Congratulations on creating a platform that has fundamentally shifted the way people deal with information. Keep at it!

Happy birthday. But really, why can’t I simply organize Evernote like I can OneNote? I’ve tried the tagging and stacks but Evernote just seems so deficient in this area of organization where it seems like it should be excelling.

Just out of curiosity, no special offer for this memorable event? specifically for premium users?

One of my favorite uses for Evernote is to capture an image that I want to email. Many of you know how hard it is to email an image, Evernote makes it a snap. Just get your image, go to Evernote where it is saved and just copy it. Then paste it into your email and there it is included in email. I use Thunderbird so not sure how it works in other emails.
