Although we’d love to imagine that Evernote is the only app you’ll ever need, the reality is most of us use a lot of different apps throughout the day, and juggling them can be a headache. That’s why we love Zapier, which made our list of Evernote Business Essentials and was one of our platform awards finalists in 2014.
Zapier connects Evernote with over 500 apps, including MailChimp, Trello, Eventbrite, Stripe, or Pipedrive, just to name a few. Setting up automated workflows (called Zaps) between apps is quick and easy. And as of today, those workflows just got a lot more powerful.
Until now, Zaps could only do one thing at a time. You could save data from a form into a note, for example. Or copy a note into your CRM. But each Zap was limited to a single action between two apps. That’s all changed with Zapier’s introduction of Multi-Step Zaps.
With Multi-Step Zaps, you can chain together as many actions as you want. For example, when you create a notebook in Evernote, a Multi-Step Zap could copy data from another app into a new note inside that notebook, and then log the new note into a third app, all automatically. Your workflows become exponentially simpler and you can focus on getting things done.
Here are some practical ways you can use Zapier’s new features to stay organized—and to use your Evernote notes in other apps:
Automating workflows with Multi-Step Zaps
Cross Counter TV, an entertainment network about fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, uses Evernote and Zapier to manage their personalized game coaching. They make a new notebook for each student, and log each training session as a note.
Multi-Step Zaps make that process easier. When a customer books a session in their appointment app (Acuity Scheduling), Zapier creates a new notebook for that customer and then automatically adds a note with details about the customer.
Create a notebook and new note together
In this case, the appointment is the Trigger that starts the Action of creating a notebook. Then the Multi-Step Zap immediately uses the notebook in a second Action: creating the note. It could also use info from the notebook or note to send an email or text message, create a calendar event or to-do item, or feed into any other app Zapier supports.
Find or create notes in Evernote
Search is the backbone of many creative Evernote workflows. That’s what makes the new search feature in Evernote’s Zapier integration so exciting.
Imagine that you’re using Evernote to run a small business and you want to create a note for each new customer, then log every email you receive from that customer in the same note.
With the “Find a Note” Action, Zapier can automatically search through your customer notebook to find the note with the customer’s email address—or create a new note if it doesn’t find one. Then you can use a second action—“Append to Note”—to log the customer’s message in the correct place.
Search through Evernote
You can also use the “Find a Note” Action to use your Evernote data in other apps. You could search for a customer’s note in Evernote, then place a link to that note into your CRM or project management app.
