It’s a new year, and it’s finally time to get rid of all the clutter in our lives and to start fresh. Your physical world is just as important as your digital one, so to kick off your year of organization, we’ve teamed up with Audible to offer you the New York Times bestseller The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo audiobook for free.

Marie Kondo’s no-nonsense approach to ending the clutter of your home comes from her years as a natural home organizer. She recognizes our need to hang on to keepsakes and memorabilia, the emotional desire to keep clothing and other items that we don’t even like, and the guilt we feel discarding gifts from others. She has the ability to help us reframe such thoughts to help us move forward in our organization goals. And yes, most of it is highly personal. Ms. Kondo encourages us to surround ourselves with things that bring us joy. She teaches us to treat objects as if they had feelings and to consider the feelings of friends and family as we de-clutter our lives.

Ms. Kondo points out the benefits of a gentle, yet strict approach to changing your life through tidying up include stress reduction, improved concentration, and clears your senses. She also says that once her clients go through her system to reduce clutter, they never go back.

Thank you for the book. You just made my year!

  • Arjan

Oh, limited to US and Canada … Maybe mention it a bit earlier in the blog post. Too bad.

  • Roland

Great, but what about your international customers?

  • Aw

And what about all of us not in North America?

  • Propellerman

Bummer! It seems that you need a US-based Audible account… my German one does not seem to work for your gift. Any particular reason why this offer is only available for US customers and not for the rest of the world as well?

  • Julia

    why only US and Canada?

  • Anna

    my account was not recognised

  • Michele

Thank you! I’ve read it but it will be nice to listen to it while I’m driving.

  • Kathi

    Thank you!

On this very page is says that I will not have to use a credit card or an Audible membership. That wasn’t accurate. I attempted to use my Amazon account and was required to enter a credit card number. A trial membership showed up in my order when I got to the Place order page and I couldn’t delete it. That trial membership would have billed me $14.95 at the end of 30 days. That wasn’t supposed to happen. You can keep your book.

    • Pamela Rosen

Roger, that definitely shouldn’t have happened. The link in the post should take you directly to a check-out page from Audible. I was unable to duplicate the problem. Please look at the FAQs in the post and direct your inquiry to Audible. They should be able to help you get the book for free with no membership required. So sorry that you had that experience. -Pam R

I had the same experience where it wanted my Amazon account. Fine, no problem, but I wasn’t interested in a free trial that showed up in my order. On that page, there were no ways to remove it. I clicked the cart (which showed two items in my order… the free book, and the free trial), and that’s when I was able to remove the free trial from my order.
Thank you very much for the free audiobook, Evernote! I appreciate it. I hope my reply helps someone else.

Leah, Thank you for the workaround. As we do not run the fulfillment of this offer, we can only direct you to Audible’s FAQs for help with this issue. I just want to make sure that you are clicking the link in the article and not trying to redeem this offer any other way. That link is a direct link to the Audible check out page, which allows you to download the book with no need for a trial membership. I’m sorry you’re having this experience, but I’m glad you got and enjoyed the book. -Pam R

  • Jessica

  • Addison Canevaro

I downloaded the book, and $25.19 charge appeared on my bank statement. When I contacted Audible, they were very helpful and agreed to recall the book and issue a refund. I would have enjoyed listening to it, but not for 25 bucks.

    • Pamela Rosen

I’m so sorry you had that experience, Addison! Did you click the link on the blog? You should have only seen a page that gives you a download link and a confirmation that your total was zero. We have had some issues with people who were charged who did not use the blog link. -Pam R
